Inhalational Anthrax
Inhalational anthrax occurs when a person inhales B. anthracis spores. These spores then spread to the lungs and develop into active bacterial forms. The initial symptoms are similar to the flu or pneumonia, including fever, cough, shortness of breath, and fatigue.
As time progresses, the symptoms worsen, including fluid accumulation in the lungs. Inhalational anthrax has a higher mortality rate compared to other forms if not promptly treated with antibiotics.
