Earlier, the Kremlin said it would place tactical nuclear weapons—prepared for Belarus—near NATO countries in a move that would further escalate tensions between the Kremlin and the West.
Boris Gryzlov, the Russian Ambassador to Belarus, said it was part of a broader plan to ensure security.
He added that a tactical nuclear weapons storage facility in Belarus would be completed on July 1, without specifying exactly where.
